We drafted a number of responses to the Educational Welfare Bill.
The first response was drafted in September 1999 and sent to all TDs.
We sent a second response to the 20ish TDs who have some expertise
or interest in Education; advocating a Home Education Advisory Council
as a possible interface between Home Educators and society.
And a third response was sent to the Joint Oireachtas Committee on
Education and other TDs active on the Education front; lamenting the
fact that the E(W)B shoehorns home education into legislation
appropriate to deal with truancy and
that the legislators have failed to seek information about HE or consult
with experts in or practitioners of HE.
